Rental homes have space to stretch out

Functionality meets timeless design in Wesgroup's 187 new homes in The Westminster
A setting as iconic as the former home of Labatt Brewery in New Westminster effortlessly lends itself to a mix of historical and modern elements. So, it was only natural that for The Westminster, a building of rental homes on the same site — which today houses Wes-group Properties’ master planned Brewery District community — the developer’s design team considered the tower’s location.
As a result, exterior architectural details such as a signature 18-storey cut steel bubble motif gives a nod to the community’s brewing past. Meanwhile, a calming water feature that surrounds the building’s entrance — just off Brewery District’s bustling and vibrant streetscape with convenient shops and businesses mere steps away — and an open, airy lobby welcomes residents and guests.
“This lobby has a luxurious feel while maintaining a refined industrial aesthetic that includes a stunning tile wall, which extends into the amenity space, and beautiful pendant lighting throughout,” says Erin Ken-wood, Wesgroup’s vice-president, interior design.
Beyond the building’s lobby, The West-minster’s amenity spaces — which include social areas such as a first-floor lounge and a rooftop terrace with a barbeque and dining capacities for which the Fraser River serves as a panoramic backdrop — are equally as welcoming.
Inside the 187 brand-new rental homes of the 18-storey building, functionality further meets appealing design, whether you are renting a one, two- or three-bedroom suite.
“We focused on creating thoughtful spaces with timeless design,” says Kenwood. “The spacious floorplans and wall-to-wall windows create homes that are comfortable to live in, with space to stretch out and enjoy the view.”
Kitchens feature quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and most homes come with kitchen islands and pantries for added storage. Bathrooms are outfitted with porcelain tile floors and shower walls, single-lever faucets, a Kohler fixture package and quartz countertops.
The bedrooms are separated for added privacy, while a large balcony off the living space creates another area to bring people together. And rounding out The Westmin-ster’s suite features are a full-sized stacked Whirlpool washer and dryer that offer residents convenience.
